Nice! Way to go Fred! Whaja git em' on??? Nice pic!

Backbeach Jake 09-04-2007 09:31 PM

Yellow Canal Specials fished slow. wouldn't take them fast. They're headed for the smoker. The Race was alive with blues from the campers to the traps. Looked like a blender. The fish were in the first wave watching me, weird they wouldn't take the lure, had to cast out to fool them. I think that the blues are getting smart...that is a scary thought right there..

Skitterpop 09-04-2007 09:35 PM

Nice Fred!

Pinch the barbs. makes life a lot easier with the "yellow eyed devils"

MAC 09-05-2007 06:07 AM

How bad were the seals?

Backbeach Jake 09-05-2007 06:14 AM

Not one seal! There wasn't room for one. Those blues are at or over 3 foot. No seal in it's right mind woulda been there.

MAC 09-05-2007 06:25 AM

Nice, I still need to make my first trip out there this year. Long ride when the seals are thick though.

Rick Ackley 09-05-2007 06:45 AM

Nice catch. Blues that size will make your arms tired real fast.

The Iceman 6 09-05-2007 07:50 AM

Nice going Fred....

Flaptail 09-05-2007 10:07 AM

I actually like big bluefish off of the beach and it's good for the local tackle shops as well. Only 7 more workdays until my fall two week vacation! Go get em Fred!!!!!!

Backbeach Jake 09-05-2007 11:18 AM

I lost a coupla really big ones right at the shore, made those look almost puny. Took me a while to calm down and get to business:bounce:
Yeah I'll be around.

l.i.fish.in.vt 09-05-2007 11:26 AM

nice catch Fred.glad to hear you were unmolested by those seals.weren't many times this summer where you could fish with losing any to the seals.there were quite a few bluefish blitz's in august though not as many as last year. hope some of those striped ones follow up.

luds 09-05-2007 11:33 AM

The blues are runnin!!!!!!!!:gorez:

fishonnelsons 09-06-2007 07:24 AM

I'll be out there in a couple weeks. Hopefully there will still be some action. Would like to get my fiance a big blue.

Grampy 09-06-2007 09:58 AM

LOL. 25 years ago I took my then fiance for a boat ride. We passed a school of bluefish so I helped her catch one. When we landed it she took one look at the plug in its mouth and said "that looks like it would hurt the fish". I married her, but she hasn't been out in my boat since. Thank God for bluefish.

Backbeach Jake 09-06-2007 05:57 PM

George, mine doesn't fish with me anymore, either. Not since her Dad grabbed the rod and said she'd lose it. 33 years ago.

Backbeach Jake 09-08-2007 12:24 PM

Got out late this AM. Didn't miss anything, there must be millions of blues feeding right to the shore. It's unreal.

Slipknot 09-08-2007 08:41 PM

Danny and I found them early, then my wife and I found them later on
lost much pluggage, good thing I know a guy who makes them

was there any place the blues were NOT at today?:lurk::behead::uhoh:
the wife has never seen that carnage before, pogies leaping out of the water:jester:

l.i.fish.in.vt 09-08-2007 10:00 PM

Slip, sad to say none here in Vt

Flaptail 09-09-2007 06:54 AM

The Senior Angler was using a plug with no hooks and tormenting them. I was a pig and was getting two at a time. Some monsters, plus if I hadn't tightened up the drag I would have landed that seal. I had him beat. Anyone seeing a Horsehead with a yellow polaris with custom paint stuck to it's head, let me know I want my plug back.
