Please advise on Maine Striper trip

I know this is a very broad question but I appreciate any advise you may have. I will be boat fishing Sept 21-23 in southern Maine. Both the Pisqattaqua River and ocean. I mostly surf cast and my buddy, whose boat it is, has little experience. What do you think our most productive approach will be? How would you fish the river? Again, I know it's a broad question but I've learned a bunch from the people on this board and appreciate any advice. Thank you.

I would 3 way a live eel & drift her through the river and ocean (the eel that is). I just don't see how you are going to go wrong with this method. Prob. would use 6-8 oz doughnut or ball sinker with 50/60 lb mono/fluoro 3 ft. leader with a gammi 6 octopus. I'm sure others will have suggestions as I'm mainly a surfcaster....

I agree with Ice, might want to try three-waying a dressed bucktail also. If fish are blitz'ing peanut bunker, try tossing something small and shiny, and hold on.

I don't know about the river but along the shore they toss out mackeral chunks. A fishfinder , about 2 or 3 OZ bank sinker and a big hook with about a 2 inch slice of mackeral.
