External hard drives

I was thinking of an external hard drive to store all the kids music on. With all the stuff on it it is slowing down. Is there any I should look at or stay away?
I have a compac that is 3-4 yrs old, maybe a 2 or 3 gb hard drive now.
Thanks,
Bill

Will it work for what I want to do? Those music files/videos take up alot of space.

They are storage and transport devises you can fill them up with whatever files you want.I have mine filled up with software and when i go to anyones puter i install what i need .Maybe one of the gurus here can chime in.

I just bought 2 Lacie 500 gig external hard drives from Best Buy for $99.00 each plus tax. My money would be to go to Best Buy or look at their website and see what they have available and the prices. I just did no more Lacies but they do have Hitachi 500 GB for $125.99

happy shopping!
Here it is for you.

Those smaller drives are great for data but not for music because the music eats up too much space to quick, I have over 5,000 songs on one of the units I just bought and it didn't even put a dent in it.
