Great idea---who do you suppose would take his contract off the Sox' hands and give you something of value in trade? Or are you in favor of giving him his outright release and then paying him not to play for the balance of his guaranteed contract?

You just signed the guy to a multi-year deal, and he had a stinker of a year. You really think there'd be any takers for him after this year, for what he's due to make for the rest of his deal?

They've tried to unload Manny in the off-season several times over the last few years, and found no one who'd take his $20 million a year deal off their hands despite Manny's obscene offensive production numbers.

It will never happen for the reasons MikeP pointed out

JD is a good player who's had a bad year. He has solid #'s historically, but for some reason players need time to adjust to boston, he can hit, run, has gun for an arm and plays good right field, plus it's all play money and until MLB pulls it's head out of its @ss and gets a salary cap, WHO CARES what these guys make.
I think Coco will be a Brave next year since they're not going to pay Andrew Jones, and we've got Jacoby.
