Can't make it...
Too bad there is not a Rec on that panel, eh? |
this is being "presented"by THE ORLEANS CITIZENS FORUM .I don't know who the "forum"is comprised of that is presenting this discussion.KARL F could you shed some light on this?
|
my mind has been running all day.I want to hear what THEY have to say in the 2 hrs allotted.that leaves 20 mins for each panelist.I've got a couple of simple things if time allows but winter is coming and there will be more "meetings"[there better be].

obviously mostly the willingness to pay. but in todays world from a conservation standpoint. i dont trust people as far as can throw them. if we could trust people to be responsible this wouldn't even be an issue. could just say "hey don't disturb them" and that would be that. wouldn't that be nice..... ::dreams:: |
:rtfm:more regulations is what we need...oh! also higher fees.that will solve everything.:yak:

if that is indeed true and its about the cash. boycott. i hate to put the pressure on the townsfolk. but if people refuse to pay they will lose out big time, and thus be forced to reverse the decision. and then the townsfolk will eventually reap the benefits of a prospering beach town once again. |
good mornin karl.personnally, the price of the stickers has never been an issue with me.the "thorn"in my saddle is all the rules[and the lack of enforcement of the rules] and how the money is spent.my peeve right now is the money spent for the southside air station that's CLOSED.I carry my own air to air-up coming off the beach. The beach trails are getting beat to death. This was a great idea when the town put this in a couple of years ago.Unfortunately now that it's closed people don't let much, if any air out and plow their way out and back.Building a "guard shack"in front of a guard shack?A computer system? see you got me going:scream2:!I was on the southside most morns.last week.till around noon.had the beach mostly to myself[great]no patrol.saturday morn.beach patrol[overtime?].I've got to go for walk.

KARL ;i just got back from the selectmans meeting.the board voted unanimously to look into the"process"of obtaining the permit.1 was not in favor of the permit and 1 was not in favor of the permit if it meant the"kill" of anything.the town is going to chatham to get their input because they have to be on board at the get-go.financing for the application is going to be another issue.Paul made a good presentation all and all.I didn't have to open my big yap.
|
I just returned from NC dealing with the same issues (and more) on behalf of the RFA.
I know that myself and others from the MBBA access committee will be in attendance at the forum. The fact that the selectman are even willing to consider a section 10 is a huge improvement. Prior to a september meeting hosted by MBBA Access Committee tha featured a presentation about section 10 permits by our lawyer, the powers that be were on record as being not interested in a section 10. This new at least open mindedness should give us all some hope. We need a big turnout for the forum. |
During Paul Fulchers report he stated"Each panelist is allotted a ten minute presentation on their issue so that will not leave much time for "discussion".My thought is to have "short, respectful and to the point questions. Also,no discussion or point was made to change the sticker feesat the selectmans meeting.

Karl,
I actually posted a release/update from the committee here on this board that spoke of the meeting. It was a private business meeting (no press, no public, not even open to the membership). Lawyers, committee members and most of the beach managers and some dignitaries). It went very well. Reaction and effects ongoing. |
