Full moon strategies for this weekend?

edit: sorry, meant FULL MOON in the title. duh.

so, how do you agree with the assertion that "on dark nights, fish dark colored plugs, and on bright nights, fish light colors?"

do you guys avoid fishing the FULL moon altogether?

does it really matter since it's the fall run?

any thoughts?

i have a sense your responses will vary depending on where you fish (RI or Mass).

You mean full moon?

Next new moon is on November 9th.

fishpoopoo 10-24-2007 01:24 PM

sorry, brainfart. meant full moon. :uhoh:

cheferson 10-24-2007 01:27 PM

EELS!!!!!! Love the full moon

Back Beach 10-24-2007 01:51 PM

I usually shy away from the full, but the full in September was real good, and you could read a newspaper it was so bright every night. Will be hitting it tonight as it looks like solid cloud cover will be in place. Plus, the season is nearing an end for me.Losing energy and interest at this point, wife's patience is getting thin too.

I'll def. be out there this weekend. Never had "huge" success on a full moon "until" last full moon, sure changed my perspective on things....

tattoobob 10-24-2007 03:20 PM

I will be hoping for cloud cover, but either way I will be throwing a parrot stubby needlefish

Rockport24 10-24-2007 03:22 PM

Bob, now you're plug-burning!
:rotfl:

t.orlando 10-24-2007 03:27 PM

Fish it like any other nite. Eels first, plug or jig if I can't reach the fish with eel. Color not important.

luds 10-24-2007 03:41 PM

Eels :spidey:

No but the funny thing is I carry over 100 plugs and only use one

Slipknot 10-24-2007 07:37 PM

fixed it Ben

It means nothing to me on the beach except I'd love to be able to get there before sundown but other than that I think they feed anyway wherever they are.
The canal is a different story, the current will be smoking, heavier jigs required, not good for the back.

gone fishin 10-24-2007 07:54 PM

caught about an hour ago --- used a white plug. It was hit just like daylight was present. ( my own wood:as::as::as:)

Lots of season left.

tattoobob 10-24-2007 08:12 PM

See. Go aways for weeks at a time on business like I do and they feel bad for you so they say "Gee honey, all you do is work, take some time and go fish...:jump1:

gone fishin 10-24-2007 08:47 PM

Thanks Bob - I hope to be there tomorrow also. By the way - I was pluggin near entrance #1 and snagged a couple of herring. About 6 to 8 inches. PLUG SIZE!!!!. Good luck.

Sept moon was so bright that we did not need our head lights while fishing squibby...it was SPOOKY!

Vogt 10-24-2007 09:07 PM

Last night I didnt even put on my light to tie on plugs!.

As for srategies for the moon- EELS maybe a sluggo
I really dont like full moons because something about them just doesnt feel right. However, I have had some great nights when it clouds up a bit.

Parker650 10-24-2007 09:14 PM

Now you've done it and gone moon burning...low and behold your spots will now be over-run with report chasing, full moon fishing, eel throwing googans...BURNER!!!!

Back Beach 10-25-2007 08:02 AM

Wife's patience is done. Back to being super dad/husband until mid May. Fishing wise, we had good fishing that seemed to drop off when the moon popped out last night, then picked back up when the cloud cover came back. Stick with the eels and give it hell for two-three more weeks.

fishpoopoo 10-25-2007 08:30 AM

thx bruce.
