What do you look for before going out?

I look at tide times and wind direction/speed.
Tide times because to me certain spots from my own experiences produces better at certain tide stages. Wind, because I prefer the wind to my back more so than in my face. The moon phase doesnt really bother me much being that i've been skunked and landed fish in all phases of the moon. What else do others look for? Barometric pressure rising/dropping? Tide heights? Water clarity? Moon phase? What are your thoughts?

I look to see if my wife is wearing lingerie or flanel PJ's, that's the deciding factor whether I go or not:D.

Seriously, wind and tide are the keys to when and where I go.

tide and wind. But lately ive been realizing i may need to be analyzing more.

tide, wind, cloud cover.... presence of idling teenagers with brown-paper-bagged beverages.

Me too, I scan the web looking for online fishing reports and spot burning threads. Once I acquire some information, I check the parking areas at the mentioned locations for other fishermen so I can ask them exactly what is going on when and with what. If my spot chasing turns out slow, hopefully someone will call me on the cell phone and put me right on the fish, no questions asked. Only then will I remove the rods from my roof and begin casting.

Round trip plane tickets. The rest is all dumb luck.

Darkness,Wind in my face, and the right tide (spot dependant).

swimshad 10-26-2007 04:40 PM

Tide, wind, my log, and BAIT!! are on the top of the list...

I'm glad to see, I not the only one who looks for his keys.

the time to go!!!! Then if the tide, wind, etc are favorable I just get more excited than I already was.......

basswipe 10-27-2007 07:57 AM

Not much.I go when I can.

Under ideal conditions(for me) I look for tide times/heights,wind speed and direction.Time of day.I do consider moon phase but like you have done well and not so well under all phases.

flyben24 10-27-2007 08:16 AM

For most spots I just look at the wind and time.... other spots the tide has more of an impact

shadow 10-27-2007 08:34 AM

wind and tide, sometimes I let it tell me where I can't go but most of the time I fish the same spots regardless of tide or wind .I just go when I can and fish.
