My HP laptop is acting up again. Has anyone ever had their computer not run with the battery installed? If I try to start it on battery mode, nothing, no power at all. When plugged into an outlet, with battery installed, starts up but only gets to the windows screen then it shuts off. No battery at all, works fine.

I probably need a new battery don't I? How much are the lithium ion batteries?

Yea, a dead or defective battery will do that. There must be a battery check that fails even though it's plugged in.

seems weird that you need the battery plugged in to run on power (corded). Must complete the circuit or something. Cheapest troubleshooting for this is trying a new battery, and they ain't cheap. You want to buy new (NOT OFF EBAY)
