change is good.

You sound a little upset!!! I don't blame you.:fishslap:
|
Ouch, when you told me you got laid off I was thinking it was the seasonal thing that comes around every year. Guess you wont be going back there next year!
|
Ya know, Nebe is absolutely correct. Change is good. You're outa that poisonous atmosphere, you'll have a little time to clear your mind and draw up a new and better game plan, and you'll learn more and/or different things at your next stop. Don't let bitterness get in the way of progress. That grommet did you a favor. New Wife, New Life. Congrats and good luck.:btu:

that does rot chef...but think if they did it right before you got married it would have ruined your honeymoon..
good luck...sounds like your better off |

Sucked at 1st , but now 3 months later, everything is looking 1000x better. Managed to pay off my debt since then, and now have 2 interviews lined up with two of the best hospitality corporations in the state. Chow Fun Food Group and Newport Harbor Corporation, with one position only being a 3 minute commute!!:tooth: |
I hope you get a better job,,,,, I quit a job like that last summer,,, so now I work less and have had lots of time to turn lures,,, except my time in the middle east this job has been good to get my sanity back,,,,:fight::fight::fight::fight::rumble:

Next time you go to the RISAA show take note that one of the people making the most money is the guy with the portable candy/fudge booth. The margin on that stuff is huge. I'm not in that industry but, to me that looks like an achievable entry into the market - there's a ton of fairs, tradeshows and festivals and the fixed costs associated with the business are very low, no building, dumpster, phone, electric, etc.

Maybe - but it's readily available wholesale too. It's important not to dismiss alternatives off-hand. If there is a guy already doing it - why can't that guy be you. To me, it looks like about the only thing standing between someone doing it is a list of wholesalers and about eight grand.
In the larger sense, I'm saying that if I were you, I would start thinking about creating my own job security and not leaving my livelihood in the hands of someone that can s-can you on a whim or at the end of one bad quarter. |
Joes right. However, creating your own job security can also destroy all sense of job security.. There are days when I loathe being self employed. Working for someoene else who is taking all the risks and recieving a paycheck every week is pretty nice.
|
For a first venture, when you don't have a lot capital, I'm more an advocate of practical, low-glamour business' - like the one's undertaken by recent immigrants.

oceancliff, isn't that the mansion in newport?
I have a friend getting married there soon, anything i should warn him about? |
I always thought a baked potato truck would be profitable. They're healthy and don't cost much. :)

i've always thought that would be a cool venture. i have pipe dreamed several different concepts.... stuck in the grind, now, though. |
I got laid off twice, back to back. The second time I was pretty pissed off. Sucks.
|

glad to hear things are working out for you Tyler. good luck with everything.. |
