casting station
I have a mskiff 2090 as my avatar shows. I find that I do not use the front platform that much as I do not feel comfortable standing up nor do my parties. I have seen in pictures several approaches to putting a casting station for 1 up on the platform but havent actually been able to use one myself.
My thoughts are something similar to a bass boat leaning chair but with more support above the waist and adjustable to fit many sizes I am 6'4" and some of my sports are 5'2". Weight capacity is up to 300 lbs standing wet! I also would prefer for it to be low profile when trailering as I travel up and down MASS/RI coastline and maybe as far a South Jersey. Anyone have suggestions of providers, solutions to work on this off season? Bill |

Also so noticed this on the martime skiff site. You could contact Captain Doug Jowett and ask him how he fabricated his. 1-207-725-4573 E-mail - djowett@gwi.net

MrHunters' boat is similar although a cat, and I stand up there all day long casting at schools of fish. I think anything up there would just get in the way.
Maybe if you were to add a low bow rail that would help with feeling vulnerable to going over.?. |
I guess that conditions and location would play into it also. We mostly fish backwater and harbors so there usually isn't too much seas to worry about.
what type of water do you fish in? |
If you look at the MSKIFF at least the older ones there is like 6" of side above the platform. I have never felt comfortable cast out there without something to lean against, most of my sports feel the same way. I believe that there was an article in OTW on what Doug did to his skiff. I'll look it up.

Here’s the contact: http://fish-maine.com/custom_marine_fabrication.htm My set up lets me simply lift the entire casting cage out of it’s square receiver in the deck to take off the boat or set at different angle to the boat. I have a receiver in the bow and on the stern casting platform so I can easily have two on the boat ore move one back and forth. I suppose you could have two made, one for your height and one for the little lady. My customers love the set up.
