Small Kastmaster, or some kind of tiny metal spoon

If I had only 1 lure to use for trout I second the vote for Rapalas. I use both sinking and floating, but for casting with a rod a sinking would probably be better. Cast it out and let it sink a little, then reel in slowly. I use size 3-7. Rainbow trout, and all the silver colors have worked well for me. Good luck!

Rooster-tails and Gold Kast-masters always work good for me. Since your in a lake You can also soak some powerbait on a slip-sinker rig.

I've also had luck with the classic Rapala color (Black-back/silver)

I fly fish only for trout, but I'll give it a shot. Take a rooster tail, use a dropper loop in front of it and tie on an olive wooly bugger. Work the lure slowly with twitches. I've never seen this used before, but knowing what I do about fishing in general and trout fishing in lakes, this could prove deadly.

flatfish, silver with green tiger stripes. my go to for fresh water. Tiny F2 or F3 on a fly to a F5 or F7 on spin. catches blugill, bass, trout, walleye, and northerns. kwik fish K9 are good also. both are floaters with super action and dive when trolled very slowly. 16" bow this summer when everone else was striking out.
i like J T R's sugestion also:uhuh:

ive been catching alot of stocked fish on yozuri pin minnows. 1/4oz, and the 1/8oz. thomas bouyant spoon. 1/4oz kastmaster. 4lb-6lb test, you should be all set.

Too late now but: I like the big Thomas spinner. It has a large Indiana blade one half silver one hlaf gold...on the shaft are like 4 or 5 gold beads and one orange plastic one. One of the best trout catchers I`ve ever used. Walmart usually has them and in trouty regions and in the NE area some gas stations and small stores.
