I'm looking for a guitar amp and cable that works and is in good condition. In the area of hopefully 50 bucks or less.

Check out craigslist, I would go with a peavey, great 1st amps

We did, just havent had the time to get my hands on one. ;)
and craigslist is way out of my price range

Did you look at Daddies Junky Music? they have used stuff there

Katie, keep on an eye on craiglsist, your best bet will be through an individual owner. I just searched Boston CL for amps under $75 and a bunch came up.
People are always selling music equipment and you can get deals if you keep looking,

yeah, you should have no problem finding something under $50 if you are just looking for a practice amp. all the advice here is dead on.
