I think Dave's right, especially since I'll be away next week. :rollem:
Lots of little fish around right now but nothing big that I know of, at least from shore.

Hi John

November is the best shore fishing month, but it sounds like mostly smaller fish so far. Lots of sann eels from what I hear. Let me know if you are heading down. I know some of the areas pretty well and have been thinking the same. Monday is day three after the full moon (a good time down there), and Wednesday looks to be warmer weather (heat wave compared to up here).

Lots of Sand eels in the surf now. Fish all seem to be 28 to 33 inches.
Most are feeding right outside the sand bar. Tin is in right now.
You have to cast real far.
Peanut bunker are invading the surf as well. If the winds stay in NW
the next 2 weeks should be good. Come on down John you know you want to. We don't serve Chowda here only chowder.

You guys are killing me..... keep me in the loop....:sled:

I was there last year on Thanksgiving (very windy and rough water ) and fishing picked up the week after we left . Isnt that the way it always is .

wrikerjr 11-26-2007 11:53 AM

If you are after size, you have some resident fish that are around in september. These are bigger fish.

for consistency and action November and December are very good. in recent years november was the time. Thanksgiving weekend, but recently the first week in december is good.

Bait is everywhere, peanuts and sand eels. when you find the sand eels at night you could be in for some good fishing on the beach but if anyone tells you they are large they are lying.

In the loop?

Ross, if you really want to get into the fish bring the boat down. There are larger fish starting to show out from the beach up on the north end from what it sounds like. Even if they are not larger, there are many under those clouds of birds you can see from the beach but cannot reach! Bob H.

I'll second that.. Some very nice action just off the beaches and the Delaware Bay started producing nicely over the weekend either chunking the upper or fishing the lower rips with eels, bucktails etc..

Sandeels and Peanut Bunker are in the wash with mostly smaller Bass and still some Blues present.. Its all about being in the right place at the right time for Surfcaster's scoring decent fish...
Now thru to the new moon period (12-12) will most likely be our last shot for the year....

DaveS 11-27-2007 08:50 PM

I would bet my last dollar that in about 5-8 days, the herring are gonna show up here and we will will have a week of solid fishing from shore. The boat guys are gonna absolutley hammer them for 2 weeks or more.

CowHunter 11-27-2007 09:23 PM

If youre gonna fish of the surf don't waste youre time for teen size fish.... If you have a boat, thats a different story. The big fish just arent running the beach, just like the last few years. These are transitory fish on a mission, whole different ball game. Almost like an early spring migratory pattern....

I going there w/ 3 members from CSA this Fri - Sun. Been going the last couple years. Hope this year the dinks keep us busy and maybe a wandering "keepa"

Boat is wrapped for the winter, and only getting moved for bottom work and possibly T-top. It would be cheaper to charter a boat down there I think. In all honesty, with weekends getting filled up for family/holiday stuff, and the lack of work on the schedule, I am not doing a roadtrip.

fishpoopoo 11-29-2007 07:39 AM

i can tell you that January shore fishing is not too shabby ... in the OBX. :hihi:

ThrowingTimber 11-29-2007 07:47 AM

John there was a nice slug of fish down that way Christmas time last year :humpty:

pbadad 12-02-2007 09:24 PM

Fished Fri, Sat, & Sun. 4 guys 8 schoolies. Plenty of diving birds on huge schools of Sand Eels mixed with Peanuts. There was just no fish under them so to speak. This A.M. I thought the conditions were perfect, N.E. wind blowing into pockets formed by sand bar points, overcast skies and snow flurries. Except the fish thought something else. Well we had fun and the area is all bout SURFISHING. It seems they say WELCOME SURFMAN!

pops 12-02-2007 09:52 PM

Last weekend I had 2 huge fat 15-18? lb blues on a rm smith wonderbread danny, slow on top..nothing else hit theres so much bait in the wash like a current of peanuts...a few guys are getting 36 " bass..many getting shorts on rubber...but who wants shorts:huh:
