Ever get that sinking feeling

Coming off a sandbar one night, after a major storm had blown through the day before, I started to sink into the sand. The further I went, the more I sunk, until I stopped, retraced my steps and found another way around.
Something like this ever happen to you?

Cow Tamer,
Common after storms. Sand is moving around quickly in the recovery phase after erosion. When that happens, sand is often thixotropic ($5 word that means sediment that is stable until moved, stepped on, etc.. think quicksand) basically they are saturated sands that haven't dewatered and compacted yet.

Yep, you get that little momentary panic and them see the scene from "Creep Show", when they are buried up to their heads in the sand, running through my head

Thankful for our resident Rocktologist. Deciphers a shifty issue and explains it in layman's terms :bshake::tooth:
