Home hunkered down! Thank gawd I got a snowblower this winter! Just cleared my neighbors driveway as she could not make the incline up her driveway...she was stuck in the street.....guess winter is here! Anyone fishing???:hihi:

tlapinski 12-13-2007 03:29 PM

Just got in from work. My usual 12 minute communte was over an hour. My GF's 25 minute ride is going on 2 hours, and she hasn't even passed my work yet. WTF!?!?!? Why do people forget how to drive EVERY year? :bsod:

luds 12-13-2007 03:34 PM

I'm still at work and we closed at 1:30. It's a parking lot outside.

JohnR 12-13-2007 03:34 PM

Hearing all the callers on the radio bichin' about no plows on the road. When half of the businesses and all of the schools let everyone out on the road at the same time the plows can't GET anywhere because everyone is trying to beat the plows home :liquify:

Then the people racing on to the highways with covered windshields needing to stop on the freakin' highway to clear their wipers

I love 4WD

tynan19 12-13-2007 04:13 PM

John, there were plenty of plows on our highways. It was the morons stopping in the slow lane like it was a parking lot brushing off their cars that was the problem. They seriously had a bunch of plows all backed up thus stopping everyone else.

Ribeye 12-13-2007 04:17 PM

Fall cleanup is now officially done.Retreat to basement.

I agree - that was what I was seeing but I'd hear people squawking on the radio "WTH are the plows????"

macojoe 12-13-2007 04:24 PM

4 to 5" here in Wareham, lots of fools on the roads! I have 4X4 so I no care:chased:

Plows have been by but there is still lots on snow on the roads

FishermanTim 12-13-2007 04:39 PM

The majority of the "idiots" on the road during this type of weather usually have NO IDEA how to drive in the snow.
They drive with it's race time in Loudon, NH and they're in the pole position.
If it isn't the speeders, it's the "whoa-nellies" that drive EVERY ROAD at 20 mph regardless of whether it's plowed or not.
I feel sorry for any idiot that decides to tailgate me on the way home.
I'm not a "road rage" driver, but if you're showing your lack of driving intelligence, you can expect me to call you out on it.
I bet it's all part of the lack of sufficient driving instructions that newer drivers receive. You know, learn how to pass the test, not the true rules of the road!

Ahhh, the Nyatt - Conimicut Points Bridge... I can't make it from Barrington to Duval Sq Providence in 20 minutes on a good day

RickBomba 12-13-2007 07:43 PM

Left work at 5 in Eastie.
Made it to Cambridge/Allston in 20 minutes.
Got to Moody in Waltham at 6:30.
I hour to go the mile from Moody to my house!
Jess is catering an Xmas party in Boston tonight!
At least I'm home.
At one point Smarttraveller said it was 4 hours Braintree to Peobody.
I'll attest to that. I think everybody stuck on 128 was trying to cut through Waltham.
Home Sweet Home!
Rick

spence 12-13-2007 08:01 PM

I flew into Logan from Houston at about 12:30pm. Figured I'd jump on the Mass Pike to Newton, hit a store and get out before the storm was supposed to hit. Had I been listening to the radio I'd have known of a multi-car pile up about 6 miles south on 128.

It ended up taking me 6 hours to get home, and thank god I stopped for gas. I never stopped to shop either.

RickBomba 12-13-2007 08:12 PM

Oh yeah...hey Eddie. I was stuck on Main St. in Waltham Center for about a half hour, so I opened my window and started talking to the woman who'd been sitting next to me (I was trying a quick jog to the east to get on some really good back roads, she's going west).
She says to me, "I hate this town." I say, "Me, too."
She asks me what time I left work, I say 5 in Eastie.
She said she left Cambridge at 1:30 (it's 7:10 at this point) and she's got to drive all the way home to Shirley (like 40 more miles!).
So I pull up to another car (going West) and it's one of my ex-wive's friends who lives in Shrewsbury.
She doesn't realize that it's me, rolls down her window, says don't try to go in the direction that I'm going.
"I'm from Waltham," she says, and "Don't even try to go down that road, cause you're not going to get anywhere."
I say thanks and proceed to light up the fog lights, hit the hi beams, and pound on the horn, and the cars parted like the Red Sea as the Avalanche barged through.
I got home five minutes later. Hope she had a good time on 128!
Ha,
Rick

RickBomba 12-13-2007 08:16 PM

Oh, and thanks John for the beanie and the GCIC "Geek" Bomba.
Hope you don't need to get some sort of ISO9000 or that other SAS70 or whatever it's called, I'll tell them yer messing with proprietary information.
It pains me waay too much to know about what I just said!
I also just changed all my Oracle passwords in the office today.
More Geeky every day.
HIJACKA!
Rick

bloocrab 12-13-2007 11:28 PM

If anyone was traveling Rte 2 SB around 1:30pm near BEst Buy (waw-wick).....I was the guy who pushed the SAME brand new Caddilac 4 different times. This poor woman lost control of this beautiful caddie and couldn't figure out how to turn the wheel in order for it to stop tail-spinning. I helped her gain control of the car...but by the time I reached my vehicle, she was slippin sideways again. Got out another 3 times to push her as she was always in front of me
It's a sad world we live in. On my third attempt, someone finally got out and said they couldn't bear to watch me push the car all by myself AGAIN...especially when it's all uphill. :musc:

After reaching WEst Waw-wicks' Main STreet, it took me 4.5 hours to get back to SWansea.....:buds:
