Vista/XP on same drive
Just scored a laptop at an amazing price.Only drawback is Vista Basic on it.Can XP and Vista exist on the same drive in different partitions like Ubuntu can with Windows?

I bought a brand new pc this year .Came with vista on it .I used it for three days then reformatted and put xp pro on it.Never looked back.I hate vista. It still has so many problems.I'm sure dual booting is an option as it was with windows xp.With XP it is was as easy as making a partition installing XP on it.Then at boot you have a choice of which OS to boot to.

I don't want to get rid of Vista because at some point in the near future XP will no longer be supported and you'll need Vista for any Windows related programs. Right now I can get away with Ubuntu for 95% of my computing but every once in awhile I have to use Windows and hate having to switch computers to do so(desktop has xp).Having all three on one machine would be nice. But the need isn't pressing at the moment and I'm not going to work myself into a frenzy trying to figure out how to make a partition with Vista. Geez just noticed the link!Excellent! |
