Wife is polish , its traditional holiday dish. In poland they have huge tanks in the grocery stores where you can pick out a live one yourself.

Chinatown in Boston has lots of markets that sell live carp (many other fish as well).

I dunno RI well enough at all, but try calling some asian markets for it or certain grocery stores may sell it if there is enough for a ethnic demand for it during certain traditions.

Lots of people eat carp. My parents would make it, but I was never crazy for it. Food was food when we were growing up. If we chose not to eat it you would go to bed hungry. I ate everything as a kid - even food that I was allergic to ..... LOL. I loved fishing for carp in the Charles River (Hatch shell area) as a kid in the 70's, but just let them go. People would watch me and see me release them. Sometimes they would come over to ask me for one and I would tell them the water was polluted (the sludge on the rocks reaked of oil ). More often than not they couldn't understand me and wanted the fish anyway. Amazing how many people would approach me fishing asking me questions. It seemed like a foreign thing to them.

pizza dough recipe

we used to make a real tough pizza dough with a little corn meal mixed in and some smelly stuff like sprinkle cheese or a bit of horse radish ..whatever was on hand...even garlic , so the carp could easily find it... then we throw out a handful of corn .....and fish the super carp power bait and catch monsters.

I 3rd the live Carp in chinatown. You can go to any fish market and you'll see carp (live, dressed, fileted, or steaked). Try the (super 88) summer street fishmarket.

I too used to catch carp out of the charles river, and people would ask me if they could have them. I told everyone of them the river is very polluted. They took the fish anyway.
