He was fishing alone. Which means he had to drive the boat with one hand and play the fish with the other.

2 lb test line? Not exactly a "catch and release" technique. :)

not to be a jerk, but that would have been a lot harder for surfcaster that can't chase a fish around with the boat and has to rely almost completely on fighting skills.
