I'm working on some needles should be done today. Got a little anxious with the camera. Hope you guys don't mind. My four Gravely tractors are getting a lttle neglected this winter with this new hobby.

Nice classic shape. Look like early Gibbs/early Habs. I'll bet they swim. What do they weigh?

cutchogue 01-05-2008 08:30 AM

With 3/0 belly and 6/0 dressed tail
Total 1.9oz they are made from rock maple.
A little heavier than Gibbs.

I hope you sealed them with boiled linseed oil. I had a ton of problems with rock maple until I switched to AYC. Paint would peel with time as the water got into the wood.

Nice turning though. Good job.

Thanks guys I'm new at this so I do have allot to learn. I have gotten lots of help from reading on this post.
Piemma I used VAIL OIL/TURP soaked 3hr let dry 3 days. Minwax polycrylic diped 3x.
Hope they don't crack put you never know.Time will tell next time I think I'll soak for 24hrs with the vailoil/turp.
