Hypalon grip

On a ST Croix, 8" foot blank that I just purchased with a butt diameter of 0.865 what size hypalon grip could I use. Would a 3/4 .0750 work without having to much trouble sliding it down over the U-40 rod bond. How much undersizing can you stretch the hypalon.

I've run across that problem with hypalon grips. This works great!......take a 2'' by 18" long PVC pipe with a cap on the end then take your grip and jam a 8oz bank sinker on one end, then drop the grip in the PVC, pour boiling water filling the PVC (sinker keeps the grip submerged).....wait a minute or two and it should slide down the blank with ease. Don't forget epoxy.

Thanks Goose,
I'll give that a try, dose the water left in the grip after you remove the bank sinker effect the curing time of the epoxy.
When ordering hypalon, for the butt of 0.865 will a 3/4 0.750 work. ????

I'm not familar with those #'s ......as far as the grips.... run a dry cloth through the grip, the hypalon absorbs little water.
