some of the lakes there are real good too for S-B's

nice campgrounds and warm compared to here !!
and basically empty too because what we'd consider nice
temperatures they think of as too cold to go camping :rolleyes:

The Savannah River used to have a very good healthy spawning population, but that was before the paper mills. Most stripers in that region, south of Myrtle Beach are freshwater/estuary populations. Lake Marion and Lake Moultrie both have significant striper stocks. Sorry, I dont know if this helps you with regard to the surf. You will, without a doubt, find bluefish all over there.

...down in those parts, Red Drum is the King of the Surf.

I tried the lakes(Marion and Moultrie) two yrs ago just after X-mas.There's not a lot of public access,and it's primarily a boat "thing",this time of year,I was unable to even find a boat to rent.However,seeing as you have a month,you might find something online between now and then.
I've never seen it,but the Savannah River might be a better choice.
