Bluewater 25
Anybody ride on one. I'm looking at an 04' with tein 200 HPDI'S
I have ridden in one and thought the ride was "a little above the curve" but it doesnt ride like the 26 reg or the 25 contender. I remember that it was poorly put together though. Things were getting "loose".
They are great looking boats though.
Its a toss up beetween a 1997 26' Regulator and a 2004 25' Bluewater both with 200 HP HPDI'S
I want what youre on. Seriously that isnt even a close comparison. The 26 reg with 200's is THE OPTIMUM 26 foot ride. Best in class, best resale, decent mpg awesome awesome ride. Regulators rule the small monohull market. Way overbuilt. The rides arent even close. And you are canyon ranged with the 26 reg. Is the reg a FS or classic?
Oh yeah, those 200 hpdi's might just be the best outboard ever made. Bulletproof.
Its a 26 classic with the auxilary fuel tank so it holds 233 gallons. It burns about 15 GPH at 30 kts so thats a 90% range of 400 NM'S. The hull is a 97' thats my only hold back... It's also way down in Fla...
I fish a 23 reg alot that is a 96' hull. Rock solid in everyway. I would not hesitate on it. Have it surveyed and the engine compression checked. The extra fuel makes that a canyon boat. Just pick your days. There are good hauling companies that make the run form Fla. to Mass and vice versa.
I fish on a '95 reg. 23 a lot, and the hull is better than most new models.
It all depends on how the PO maintained the motors. the hull is nothing to worry about. |
MTC- I would lean towards the Regulator. A 97 hull should not be an issue at all. I have seen some 90s models that look new. As stated above I think you would be hard pressed to find any other mono hull boat that will perform as well in inshore / offshore conditions. I have a 23' Classic and I will tell you I have never been in another 21-24' boat that rides like she does. The downsides are the Regulators are very heavy hulls and will use some fuel and the 24 degrees of deadrise will also make the boat a bit tipsy while drift fishing. Fit and finish wise my 2002 model could pass as new when I clean it up.
I am leaning twoards the Regulator... I may need to get some $$$ from a 21' Regulator I have for sale (Brother-In-Laws) to swing it....
The regulator is an awesome boat. Even on a ten year old boat though, make sure to see how the tank went through the ethanol conversion. that's on the young side to be having problems but it is not something you wanna deal with. Also I'd want to see how the steering is holding up.
I ahve always seen the Regulator as a wet boat. I have been out on the 25' numerous times around the Vineyard with leslie. She hated that boat. Although we always could fish Wasque without issue any day.
