Charlie Moore

There is a new tackle shop in N. Falmouth formerly known as “Mad fish Outfitters”.

They were threatened with legal action because the shops name was too close to Charlie Moores lame tv show called “the mad fisherman”. So rather than spend $$$ to fight Mr. Moores attorney they simply changed their name.

From what I have read in my local paper the afore mentioned alleged TV fisherman could not be reached by the shop owners to talk this over. They, like I and the editorial staff of the paper are in agreement the name is not that close and they probably would have won in court but as a fledgling shop I understand why they chose not to pursue.

Shame on Moore.

Just one more reason to boycott that crappy show.

onsetangler 01-16-2008 07:33 PM

I'm not surprised, he seems like he thinks he's a big deal....He's not and I personally think his show is less than enjoyable.

riverrat2 01-16-2008 07:35 PM

Charlie Moore is a joke. He can't catch fish to save his life and makes him self out to be an idiot on TV. I met the owner of mad fish over the summer and he seemed like a really good guy who knew his stuff. Charlie moore makes me puke, he'd sell his kid if he got enough money

luds 01-16-2008 07:48 PM

Just shows his true colors. He is an embarresment to the sport of fishing.

johnny ducketts 01-16-2008 07:50 PM

he's a dink

BigFish 01-16-2008 07:51 PM

There is a restaurant in Scituate called the Mad Fish? Wonder if he sued them? What a tool!

ChiefLinesider 01-16-2008 07:57 PM

The mention of his name just made me throw up in my mouth

plankton 01-16-2008 08:10 PM

I was flipping through the channels on a weekend looking for some fishing shows to watch, and I briefly paused on his show (which i know sucks but I was jonesing for some tv fishing). It only took about 10 seconds before my wife says, "What the hell is wrong with this guy!" A friend of a friend actually went to high school with him and apparently he hasn't changed. This brings to light another thing that bothers me, a serious lack of decent fishing show. On the Water does an okay job but how many times can I watch them fish Nomans with eels? My buddy and I always joke about starting our own fishing show, but likewise, how many times do people want to see the "Sporadically Beating up on Schoolies" episode? All I know is that something needs to be done because football season is almost over and I need some quality fishing programming to fill the niche.

Told by a friend who lives close to Charlie Moore up in New Hampshire,
Charlie's not exactly the greatest guy at home!
Treats the wife and kids like %$%$%$%$!

spence 01-16-2008 08:49 PM

My guess is that they would have won a legal battle. Not that I'm an expert here, but considering how many other fishing businesses use a similar name, and how they are not in competition I just can't see it...

Once a wanker

Always a wanker

But if he's got it copyrighted he's perfectly within his rights to protect his rights...

And if the shop was called Charlie's Mad Fisherman he'd have every right. But just because someone CAN copyright a name or something doesn't make it right. It's just weak. It was pretty lame when the Planet Hollywood was suing anyone with Planet something in their name. Weak.

I dont think they are online I did look. I do however have the paper if you want AND I believe they are printed in close quarters with a monthly fishing rag that was given some support by Harpoon. I wonder what if any stance they will take.

BigFish 01-16-2008 10:34 PM

How about..."I like to toss my catch 6 feet in the air after I have had it out of the water for 20 minutes to release it Outfitters"?:jester:

Slipknot 01-16-2008 10:42 PM

I looked it up
they have a site but when I googled mad fish outfitters, their site came up Bad Fish Outfitters, which I think really sucks for them.
I would not have changed it.

animal 01-16-2008 11:03 PM

He absolutely sux.I'd prefer to watch geriatric womens golf or tennis, than to sit in front of the tv pulling out my own hair watching this f-tard.His show makes my eyes bleed.I'd like to spend some time with his wife, though.

1dozenraw 01-16-2008 11:05 PM

He's a Bahston Humjawb,with a wife who's hot,and probably wishing she hadn't signed a pre-nup.

CANAL RAT 01-17-2008 12:20 AM

i had a friend from NH that knows him.... he cant stand to be in a room with him for more than 5min he just drives him crazy

Flaptail 01-17-2008 05:36 AM

I drive by that place everyday but have never been in there, is it any good?

Are they somehow related to the Goose Hummock Shop?

BassDawg 01-17-2008 05:49 AM

CMoore is the poorest excuse for a fisherman I've ever seen.
If there was ever a time slot that needed improvement, or a niche that could do with one less assclown, then it would be the time slots that this tool is allowed to pollute our airwaves in.

Somebody with NESN seems to think he's funny. Prolly never feehsed a day in their pencil-pushing, numbers-crunching, pathetic, corporate life!!! I'd out-fish that BEETCH from the shores of our city ressies, and he can have a boat, a crew, and all of the teeny fish he wants ~~~while i'll land some reel monstahs and carefully release them to live to fight another day. What a maroon!!!!

The worst is how he almost jumps out of the boat when he hooks into an avg smallie or largie. And his wife is STELLAR, prolly very high maintenance and the only TROPHY he'll ever catch! :usd: :usd:?

Steve K 01-17-2008 06:11 AM

Look out. He is getting his own sitcom on one of the networks. Think Home Improvement but with a guy who has his own fishing show instead.
