dell laptop
 

my fairly new dell lapop has lost its CD drive. I try to physically pull it out an reinstall it. The Windows xp displays new hardware found but when I try to load drivers it acts like its not seeing the drive.

Anyone had this problem?

even reloaded windows xp today thru a usb memory stick. Now the dam thing has lost its wireless capability and LANs

Dell uses cheap drives that would be my first suspect.Windows may be just noticing that something is installed into one of the slots.Doesn't mean the drive is working right.As far as wireless capability if the version of windows is genuine you probably just need to update it.
