Splash Date

Hey all,

I'm probably getting ahead of myself here but I was just wondering when everyone was splashing their boats this year. I'm on the south side of the cape and I'm thinking May 1st, although I'd like to go tomorrow. What are you guys doing?

macojoe 01-28-2008 10:21 AM

I fish the Cape also, I love to say May 1st all the time, But the weather here sucks till June 1st !
You get very few days in May that are worth it IMO

MrHunters 01-28-2008 10:58 AM

hoping for 5/15

blaruffa 01-28-2008 11:07 AM

Shooting for 4/1 splash date to make Tatoug season this year :)

Speedy Too 01-28-2008 11:10 AM

April 15th......bottom fishing can be decent before the dogs arrive

"uffah!!" 01-28-2008 11:14 AM

My slip is ready the 1st of April, but I never get my boat ready before
the middle of the month!

Mine also. I'm figuring April 10 to 15. I'm planning on retiring at the end of March and doing nothing but fishing from April till December....every friggin" day!!!!!

RIJIMMY 01-28-2008 12:02 PM

Paul - congrats on the retirement!
I am planning on getting my boat in the water mid-april. A few scouting trips and then the serious fishing will begin early May.

fish4striper 01-28-2008 12:30 PM

cod opens 4/1, first decent weekend

InTheHole 01-28-2008 12:34 PM

Planning for the 1st week of may, so I'll probably be in sometime in June!

MakoMike 01-28-2008 04:38 PM

Sometime between April 1st and 15th ( If I can get everything done!)

JohnR 01-28-2008 04:49 PM

Congrats Paul :btu: - A little surprised though, didn't you take a new job in the last 6 months?

It'll be a year next month. Flew almost 200,000 miles last year and I am tired. Cancer is still with me although I live with it, it wears me down occasionally. I'm 60 years old and been on the road for almost 40 of them. Time to take some time and smell the roses. I'll end up doing something probably part time but I am going to take some R and R and fish.:deadhorse:

BassyiusMaximus 01-28-2008 05:00 PM

I'm on the trailer and am ready to go at a moments notice like a Minuteman. I thought we'd have some nice 40-60 degree days but so far there have not been many. As soon as the first 40 degree weekend comes and the seas lay down, I'll be out somewhere, fishing.

taJon 01-28-2008 08:11 PM

I'm planning on mid may so I can be at the LLs for that week in June when "they" show.

April 30th is normally the first shakedown trip. There were huge bluefish in Buzzards Bay at that time. I didn't manage to get into the seabass bite in the upper bay tho, it was really was short.

Moses 01-29-2008 07:53 PM

I trailer and usually do a few early season runs in April. Hoping the same timeframe this year or a little earlier.

keeperreaper 01-29-2008 08:29 PM

Hopefully March 1st and then zip out for the cod below the 42 line above the 42 on April 1.

CaptMike 01-30-2008 09:16 AM

Man I can't wait to get her in the water. I may have to move the date up.

Clammer 01-30-2008 09:32 AM

Splash date ::???????????

Never pulled her out >> boats were made for the sea / not a garage or under some shrink wrap ;;:fishin:

i followed the Clammer advice this year, but now I am laid up with a leaky oil pump. Once fixed, I will keep going out when the days are decent...

Aiming for mid April, but with the last maintenance tasks to do it will probably be the end of April.

Try to get some personal cod trips in before the tackle shop gets cranked up for the season and the bass and tuna charters start lining up.
