The Senate has time to investigate Spygate?

One day before the Super Bowl we get this:

http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/22951415/

The national sports media is now back on the Spygate warpath...can we remind them that it's STILL not illegal to videotape you opponets? Sean Salsibury and Steve Young are on ESPN right now completely disregarding that it is OK to tape you opponent. "If you know what your opponent is doing, that ruins the game of football"

Here we go, the campaign to discredit the greatest football team of alltime is in high gear! What a bunch of crap....

afterhours 02-02-2008 02:25 PM

arlen schpincter. (sp) :bshake::rollem: this guy should be taken to the vets and be euthanized.

wrikerjr 02-02-2008 03:22 PM

what a waste of money. why would congress care if the pats cheated and why would they care if the nfl destroyed the evidence.

I fully understand if congress wants to be involved in steriods, but spygate. I think we can all let spygate go. its the playoffs and less than a week away from the superbowl, if you need a story your not a football fan period.

He has been outta touch with the
State of Reality and in touch with the
State of Denial for soooooo long,
that it is well past time for him to be
removed from office or anything else that
involves critical, objective thinking.

The worst part about these "inside the beltway" types is that before long they start to believe their own press, and deem themselves above refute. The JUDICIARY COMMITTEE!!!!

You gotta be effffin' with me on this one! What a shameless shill for the Cable Guy!!

And if ya think that this is egregious, just wait until we truly delve into what "W" did and didn't know about 911. There are just way too many cowinkadinks!!

BassDawg 02-02-2008 05:02 PM

While i agree that this is monetarily motivated, the silver lining is
the PATS are gonna eat this up. I mean how badly DOES Sen Sphincter want us to trounce the NY Football Giants?

Anybody else beginning to notice the national slant towards NY?
Ya know like the people outside of sports. It's amazing to me that these people cain't just watch and enjoy the genius and domination that is THE New England Patriots!!!!

BassDawg,

Once you become a dynasty everyone roots against you. Its just the natural order of things.

I just hope it is a good game.:lama:

BigFish 02-02-2008 07:04 PM

This was over and done some time ago...Congress has no business getting involved! I am done discussing it......we have a Superbowl to dominate!:tooth:

vineyardblues 02-02-2008 07:25 PM

:deadhorse:Yup, definately time to sew some names tags in his clothes, buy him a pair of white loafers and matching belt and send him down to one of the drooling academys in Boca to wait on the early bird special.:pats2:#56:patshelmet:
P.S. And take this sad sack of moldy melting molecules with him!:raiders:

Raider Ronnie 02-03-2008 09:44 AM

Some kind of explanation from Belichick and the Pats would have gone a long way to ending this speculation!
Him ONLY saying "We are moving on" dosen't cut it for a lot of people!
Add in the fines $500K for Belichick, $250K for the Pats, and loosing a #1 pick.

BigFish 02-03-2008 09:56 AM

Ronnie......this was settled already and we do not need to revisit it! Its all talk and hot air.....after the game it will disappear in the wind like a bad fart!:pats:

$500K is a lot of hot air.
Most people would not go down without a fight if they were fined 15% of their pay (I know I would)

i guess the question is not really about cheating against the jets but how long have they cheated and if so, what are the effects.

To me, that is something for the NFl if they want to investigate rather than the senate. :deadhorse:

Probably because he knew he got bagged. He paid the fine and moved on. He doesn't owe us anything, he settled it with the league and he settled it with his Boss....all done.

When you get bagged for speeding or something and you choose to pay the fine does anybody wait around after you hand them the check, asking for an Explanation....No....you pay them and move on.

From what I know, he didn't "choose" to pay the fine.
He had no choice.
They claim, every team was doing the same thing (filming)
No other coach has ever been fined, certainly not 1/2 a mil!

The Dad Fisherman 02-03-2008 11:39 AM

Whether he Chose to or not, he paid it....probably part of settling with league and boss, (my guess is they didn't want to drag it out).....it should close the book on it.

I still don't see why he "Owes" us an explanation...

pmueller 02-03-2008 11:43 AM

Now they want Tom Brady to interview with Spector on Tuesday

The thing thats not coming up is that this was legal until this year.

Ya, but $500K is pretty excessive for a fine, (plus 250 for team and #1) pick don't you think ?
This whole situation just doesn't add up !

Taking away lower picks would have hurt the Pats more,as they rarely keep high first round draft picks (Not that they've had many)

Who gets the fine money anyway?
Does it go into a general fund?
to charity?

From that explanation it sounds more like a charitable donation!
So maybe Bill B can use the $500K as a tax write off !:rotf2:

Though maybe with some creative accounting,he can somehow expense the fine :bounce:

If BB wanted to be the next richard hatch he would try to claim a deduction from his taxes, but he is a lot smarter than that.

As part of the NFL anti-trust agreement they have different tax rules, not sure if involves donations, which under the anti-trust agreement have to go to charity.

Al's probably rooting for you today, if he still remembers how to put his socks on. Besides the fact that he'd love all of the videogate fuss, this is original AFL versus the ultimate NFL Establishment franchise ;)
