I made this one out of plywood and a bathroom fan. I pretty much only spray createx (air brush paints) in it....

Mine is made from a pair of plastic rubber made storage tubs, the main body has a series of 3/4" holes drilled in it to facilitate air flow, the smaller one houses a two pieces of filter media, the filter box is held in place by a pair of studs and wing nuts, one dust filter and one charcoal filter keep the paint and any slight odors from entering the main system, both bought in 12X24 sheets at Grainger and cut to size, because I only spray acrylics, I use my dust collector ( flow controled by a blast gate) to move the air ...
A pair of "V" block hold my work piece while I paint, I also have a block of wood with several holes drill to accept dowels that can be inserted in the plu bodies if I dont use the "V" blocks... |

Bay Stalker - Nice work.....I like the lights....I may have to add some to mine..
I also like the fan mounted on the back......I have mine on the roof, and the air flow isn't all that good........ |
Do you have to use any type of special fan when you make one of these? I am planning to make one but am worried about the sparks the fan motor will make. Do you need to use something like a squirrel cage fan where the motor is separated from the exhaust air?
|
Some of the guys used explosion proof fans but most guys use simple bathroom exhaust fans. The reason being they are spraying water based paints only.
