Rigged Sluggos
I just went to the Hartford hunting and fishing show.
Saw the 9" and 12" rigged sluggos - a B&T had them for $17.45 and $23.95. Talked to the owner who said he only brought (and bought) a few b/c of the price. Saw the 9" for $16.00 somewhere else. Still about $6 too high. I'll continue to rig them myself. |
How many in a pack? 3? Damn expensive when blues are around...:wall:

I'd rather rig them myself anyways. Not only is it alot cheaper, It gives me something to do in the winter.

sounds like a rigged the price...

You guys are right, they are very pricey. Sluggo isn't making them for you though - the people that know how to rig them right, and who will take the time to rig them exactly the way you want them rigged.
They are making them for the 75% of the population who don't know how to rig them, don't want to know how, and don't want to be bothered. These folks, how do I say this without offending anyone(?), are not fishing finatics, but fish on vacation, a day here and a day there. They read the magazines and are intrigued by some of the techniques - large rigged sluggo's - but aren't "into it" that much to really work on it and learn how to do it. The easy way out is to buy a rigged one, hence sluggo is making them. (Case in point - all the Berkley, Tsunami, Calcutta, Storm, etc rubber with the hooks in them). That being said, the cost for them is high, so the retail is high - I bought some for the shop, but not alot, I think they should've rigged up some of the smaller sluggo's first - less expensive. |
Does anyone know if they're gonna sell the 12" unrigged? I won't pay the price for the rigged ones, but I wouldn't mind having a few of the 12 inchers to rig up myself.

$17.45 and $23.95!!! :eek5:

Anyone who pays that needs to be checked into a mental ward... |

I see Lunker City getting a lot of complaints on these from guys who haven’t fished enough to realize that they’ll probably only get one fish, maybe two, per rigged sluggo. Hell, I think the unrigged ones are overpriced (although a lot of that is probably due to the packaging, just give me ten packs in a plastic bag and pass along the savings).
|
^ that reminds me that I did see larger amounts in the 9" size. Looked to be about 10 in a bag.

Lunker City says they will be selling the 12's unrigged... |
I love Sluggoes. The first time I used them I landed a bass on my very first cast. I have rigged maybe 40 of them in the last two years but MAN!!! I lose 3 of them to chompers for every fish I pull in.

12" sluggoes would be awsome if they have the same action as the 9".
|
I bought a pack of 3 unrigged 12" sluggos for 12.97 today. They come in a neat new color, called eel skin. It looks like a dark brown to me.
|
So are the 12" unrigged Slug-Go's now available every where? Or is it just a show thing?
|
DJ, I bought mine at Rivers End Tackle in CT from Pat. He's well stocked with them. He said they each weigh in at over 3 ounces.

So are you saying that because I use a prerigged shad body that I'm not "into it?" That's :bs: I use these and sluggos that I rigged and consider myself "into it!" |

I thought slug-gos fish best on medium action 7-8 foot rods?
|
Skiharder - as I said - "how do I say this??" - the comment was aimed at the majority of people fishing, you can't cover everyone and there's always exceptions.
Sure, hard core "into-it" folks will buy them, but look at all the comments on the thread. I would guess that less than 2 of 10 say they are the greatest thing since sliced bread, and will rig their own or use live eels. That's not to say they won't work or you are not "into it" if you use them. |

I like the idea of a small rod for control, anyone have suggestions of a good rod in the 8-9 foot range? |
