best baits for stripe bass
Just starting to get my gear ready for 2008 stripe bass season. Whats your line up for tackle, IE rods reels and lures????
|
oh man... your going to get a lot of answers.
its all about how much you fish and your budget. I like lamiglass gsb 121 M and L rods, the L having 4 inches cut off the tip I like a vs-200 for a reel I like Cortland master braid- 60 lb test Seaguar 40 lb leader material. Plugs.. soft plastics I am biased because I make my own hard plastics- super strike darters are my #1 go to in currents yozuri mag minnows are good in calm water and cast a mile. |
I've got setups from 6# to 65#, all for stripers, just depends on where I'm fishing. For lures I can use anything from a 2" shad or a 1/2 oz. tin all the way up to 6oz jigs and shads or 10" wooden plugs, plus live eels, dead eels, pogies in either state, whole or chunked, etc. It might be easier to ask what not to use for stripers. I would suggest thinking about where you are going to fish and asking some more specific questions about gear for certain situations, I think then you'll find that you get a lot of useful information you can use.

depends on circumstances, the swim, boat or shore, time of year, etc. Got to be a little more specific. All the above.

Nebe - im getting the 1201 L.. just wondering why you like 4" off the tip? i was taking 6" off the butt.
