Bye Bye Asante...
On his way to the Iggles for 6 years....
|
thats a bummer
but hey to get smashed around like a football player does.... and the career is so short you have to go for the biggest payoff. Still , it's gonna stink when he catches one of brady's passes this fall :yak4: |
I am gonna bet he will be a non-factor! He is a product of the Belichick system. Others have flourished here, gone elsewhere for the bucks and were never to be heard from again toiling in anonymity for some pitiful excuse for a football team! Plug in another one Bill....NEXT!
|
Altho Asante made some Great plays and was a phenomenal asset, he had a habit of "doing his own thing" late in a close game. Not playing out his assignments. I'm thinking non-factor or lesser factor, too. I was glad to have him here tho..I think that htis is only the beginning of the changes in store for the Pats. Looking for a huge shake-up this season.
|
Good for him but...
Was he really the best CB in the NFL? I don't think so but now he's getting paid that way. Won't last more than 2 season in philly, IMO. |

And they are far from a pitiful excuse for a football team, Larry. "Plugging in another one" worked when Milloy and Law left, but Bill never had as many defensive needs to fill as he does now. How confident are you in Ellis Hobbs? He looked like a guy trying to hail a taxi when he got burned by Burress for the winning TD. :rotf3: But hey, you re-signed Bruschi--maybe you can watch him diving at Westbrook's legs after he's through the hole if you do meet the Iggs in the Super Bowl ;) |
My point Mike is that I don't think they are a huge media market like NY, Dallas, New England, LA, Chicago. Who cares about the Eagles unless you are from Philly?

And Actually outside of New England The Pats are probably the most hated football franchise in the country |

Born/raised in Rhody, but grew up as a fan during Buddy ball. Fun time and it stuck. Asante will be a great addition to a hard hitting secondary w/ Dawkins, Shepard and. Brown. Jim Johnson is a great D-Coordinator. He will know exactly how to play him, and having a true A1 cover corner will be huge for a defense that loves to blitz! Remember, they had the pats on the ropes for a while, in one of the closest game the pats had all season! Keep drinking that Kool-Aid :D:D |
Can't fault him for going for the guaranteed $$$$$$$$$$. Not a long wage earning expectancy in the NFL
|
While this may be a good move for Assante,
imho he was asking for waaaaay too much dough. he wanted the Pats to go for 10 years and $100 M :rotflmao: :rotflmao:. NO WAY, not in this system!! I also believe that Bill and Scott fully anticipated this move and have already come up with "checkmate" to Samuel's "check". Hobbs will remain as the #2 CB and providing they keep the WR Corps intact, i am most confident that Coach Bill will fill the secondary needs and address the LB questions to the benefit of his team. AGREED, this could be a huge shake-up year for the Defensive side of the ball and it is still very early. however, how did we all like last year's off season aquisitions? :claps: :claps: lastly, the Phleagles are a non-issue from my perspective and they should be more worried aboput the NFC's new Powerhouse and defending SB Champs, THE New York GIANTS :musc: :musc:. i anticipate a SB rematch, PLEEEEEZ?? anything BUT Manning vs Manning as that would give most of NE a whole new meaning to the punt, pass, and kick competition....................... i can see the airborn tv monitors, now :af: :af: |
During his press conference, he stated he went to Philadelphia because he felt they had a great shot at winning the Super Bowl....:hs:
Why can't anyone stand up and say....I left for the money. |
100 million..........ahh hahhahah
he was good but not that good...
bye bye pricey sam... so what did the eagles buy him for? |

I think the Pats will do about as well as they did when Lawyer Milloy and Ty Law left. Both of whom made big plays in the playoffs, unlike butter-fingers Asante.
Good back, but overrated. |
In Bill I trust
Asante said in his press conference, and I was hoping I wouldn't hear it, but I did...."I'm getting the respect I deserve." Sounds like the very same words Perdo used at his Mets press conference. For that sort of cash, disrespect me, use me, insult me! |

Big babies!:crying: |
assante's good, but he's not all that....keep your eyes on the ball-duh!....btw still not over it.
|
BiGFish Larry is making it hard for me to buy his plugs... lucky those jointeds look so nice :tooth: I think Jim Johnson will find a way to use him effectively. In the future we will all talk of the curse of the bambino... I mean spy gate. See what 100 or so years with out an other superbowl feels like :scream: No really, the birds spent alot of money, which hasn't worked out for them when bringing some in from the outside so I am cautiously optimistic, nothing more.
|
I knew the chances were slim the Pats would offer him a contract he would accept. He has been itching for that big pay day. It is too bad they could not keep him because I think he is one of the top cb's in the league.
Now please sign RANDY!!!!!!!!!!!! |
If he made that play in the SB that we all thought he should have I would be pissed off, ,,,,,, Now all I can say is don't let the door hit you in the arse :walk:

Asante wanted waaaaay too much dough for a cb that only plays one side of the field. not a true cover/shut-down corner, imho, or else why wasn't he on Plax for the go ahead score? i'm all for someone "getting paid", cannot stand the MONEY = RESPECK Card. What a nincompoooop!!  |
