Wax Alternative

http://www.poliglow-int.com/poliglow.phtml

Saw this on ShipShape TV. Looks good, especially for an older hul like mine. Designed because he couldn't find a wax that held up on his old, faded, chalky hull.

I use the 3M finish restorer and wax. I think it does a fine job and lasted almost all season with just one coat. It really needs to be applied with a high speed polisher though.

The best that i have found for old chalky hulls would be to buff it with 3M medium rubbing compound then go after it with MaryKate Maxi-Wax.

I just think of my boat as a work vessel and say a hell with the wax. When I'm fishing in it I'm not looking at it. But if I did or was going to wax it it would be the 3m stuff. TaJon spoke of it.

the 3m compound is great stuff if you have a power buffer.

I'm doing my boat this year with collinite 925 It's the Ba!!$

InTheHole 03-11-2008 09:19 AM

I've been using 3m perfectit with a power buffer, that stuff is awsome!!

MakoMike 03-11-2008 01:20 PM

I like the 3m compound, but the collinite fleetwax does a much better job than anything else I have tried.

saltyric 03-19-2008 05:50 AM

Collinite Fleet wax on the hull......Woody Wax everywhere else!

I have an older Hydra-Sports and the stripe on the side is heavily oxidized. I have tried EVERY wax and cleaner and it brings it back a little but not enough. I am going to try it the Poliglow this year. I'll let you know how it works, and I'll try to take some pics.

Well I order PoliGlow and I am going to have the boat yard apply it. I'll post a picture once it is done.

nightfighter 04-01-2008 07:56 AM

Hope it works for you. I decided against it as my hull is pretty good, not chalky. Wax brought it back to new condition. Poliglow is kind of like putting a eurathane or varnish over your hull. Just sharing what I found.

Be careful with the Poly. It will look good but when it's time to redo it it is a real pain to get off. G&S Marine has a great wax called Shultzies. Not sold anywhere else.

I know a guy that went over his boat with 1000 wet/dry grit sand paper lightly and was amazed!! the thing looked like the day it came out the show room!
