Newport RI in the middle of May
 

Am considering a visit to Newport in May. Any recommendations re:good locations for surfcasting for bass would be appreciated.
Also, is mid May a good time for a Spring Bass run or should I wait a few weeks? Thanks for any info.

1st and second beaches

The small ones show up in april at the corners of the beaches.I ususally start fishing for the real thing anytime after Mother's Day ,with the first 2 weeks in June being prime time.

Depending on what part of May you're here I find particularly from the second week on to be incredible.At that point bass have surrounded the Island.

Thanks for the replies. Dates will depend on my boss letting me go but I'm looking forward to it.

the later in May you can go the better off your odds are of getting into large and large quantities.
