i don't think holding the line when working a pencil is necessary. if you're using braid i could see you getting sliced if a big fish hit the plug.

Good for starters I would say.

Put it on a little TV/CD repeater in the shop, lower the volume abit, and place it near the plug section for newbies - saves you from answering the same question over and over again all season long.

(God help me - we're not even open yet and I've had enough)

If you pinch the braid lightly between your first finger and thumb pads you should be OK. Hold it tightly behind the first joint in your finger and you could be asking for it...

I liked it a lot. the only thing that would make it better is if a big fish exploded on the plug!

i'm not experienced by any means, but i think holding the line is crazy, especially if a fish of reasonable size hits. looks dangerous. and the guy looked like he was zoomin those plugs in at warp speed.
