Rod Help
Havent asked a question like this in a while. Im trying to narrow down rods for my cousin. Around 100 bucks. Spinner. 10' or 10'6". He really likes my quarrow but they are non-existant now. How do the tica dolphin, and the tsunami airwave compare? I know folks like em, and they arent complete crap like the old school tica's. Mostly used for pluggin 1-3 oz. Bombers, poppers, shad's, needles etc... Thanks for the help guys.

I'm unfamiliar with the Tsunami, but the Tica Dolphins are great. I have a 9' spinner rated 1/2-3oz. (an accurate rating), that I love. Nice blank with good components for a reasonable price.
Agree with that tica as well. Mine treated me very well for several years and would recommend it highly.
Airwave 9 fter is right on for me also.Nice and light for plugging all night!
I have not owned a Tica. However, I do like both my 9' and 10' Airwaves for 1-3oz plugging. Very light, fairly fast tip, but stiffen up under a load. I also am a big fan of the x-flock wrapped butts. Some disagree, but I like it well enough so that I had my G.Loomis done over using it.

Another option with a similar feel to the Tica Dolphin and similar price is the Ugly Stick Custom spinning rod. Might be worth going to a store and giving them all a feel.
The St Croix Triumph fits that price range. I picked up a 8ft I believe it's 3/4-2 oz great little rod. #^^^^&s has a pretty good selection of them.
For $100 I'd go with the Dolphin.
I like the Daiwa Sealine x I used to fish that pole and it served we really well. It held up well to abuse and for the money was a great value.
Thx guys, i heard a certain b&t is having a sale this weekend.
maybe he can find a used all-star or rainshadow for that price if ya check around.
Ask the guys at the Saltwater Edge ,they know their stuff!
Another vote for the Tica Dolphin or the Tsunami Air Wave.
you cant go wrong with either. fuji guides and seat if you like the shrink grips over cork tape go AW if you like just cork tape go with the Tica |
I own a few ticas and have been very pleased with them. They are also not to expensive
You might also consider the St.Croix Triumph.Comparable in price with a 5yr warranty.
Picked up a tsunami last season and it actually turned into one of my favorites! Also for that price range I have a Sealine X which has served me well and is quite durable! Skip the Ugly Sticks if you ask me.....

Great signature line Jenn, one of my favorite books.
t.orlando has a custom 1087 in the bst which would be perfect for the weight range you are looking at.
