scroll down and check out the thames footage from Feb. of 03 |
That's Awesome. Any idea where that was taken?
CT
I thought it was the Thames in England:wavey:
remember alot of years ago dep did a winter survey like 75k fish in river in feb.
i have fished it from shore with very little luck... there are 2 warm water discharges on the river between them and at them are what i am told. Getting access to these spots can be difficult at times. That is why a boat is the best bet. Anyone ever fish the CT river for Shad??? i Also here that there can be monster cows in the river all the way up by the dam
Whats not shown in the video is if you were to look 10 feet to the right you would see my lure in the water as they are all swimming right by it with out a second glance
I rev'd the news letter from jim white about the winter fishery next year and i think i am going to do it. I think it will help my itch out alot too.
amazing, freakin 37 degree water and they're swimming like it's June!
indeed, that is amazing footage.
WOW!!!
Did you guys notice in Clip 2....close to the middle of the video....this fish had to be close to 50lbs....it was HUGE!!!....I think it even tried to hit the camera with it's tail.... |

Any guesses on the actual size of the cow that swims by in the clip titled 'big striper'?
Not sure, 30#-40#???
Kinda dispells the myth about big gurls not swimming with smaller keepers, eh? Who Knew? Awesome Footage! |
The herring spawn was interesting.

I have to agree with BassDawg, with all those other fish being "small keepers"....that COW had to go 40#s easy. COW-A-BUNGA DUDE!!! Road-Trip to the Thames anyone?......."We're going to need a bigger boat"..........:spin: |
i would think most of those thames clips were shot in "the basin" that is right in the middle of the harbor. the best fishing is definitely by boat but there are large fish taken by shore bound anglers every year out of that river.
most of the fish you're seeing are not small keepers, more like say 15" -24" but there were pictures and reports of a 50# taken in dec. there are many many fish that winter over there and right now there is a decent night time bite but middle of may to middle of june some truly large fish make their way up river and that is when fishing the thames is at it's best. i know this has been said before but it's worth repeating- if you're going be prepared you're going to have lots of company and more importantly make sure you have a ct fishing license, the ct d.e.p. likes to hang around and check for that sort of thing. oh, and lock your vehicle things have a way of disappearing around norwich. |
