I was down in NJ last weekend (Spring Lake/Belmar). Tackle shops say some keepers have been caught mostly with bait but its still slow. I fished from the beach and jetty with both clams and lures and just got a skate. They can't show up soon enough for me!

HookLine&Sinker 04-08-2008 01:50 PM

will they be here for the 19-27th... preferably the canal?

if so then april vaca hit it right on the spot!

djfishes 04-08-2008 02:06 PM

who the heck knows when they will be here... last year being my FIRST real surf yr i headed down to the west wall.. i loved it i brought my trout rod and everyone else had thier 10 st croix and lamis slingin cochoes and fight a 12 inch fish........me on the other hand i looked like i was fighting a whale and man that was funnn... people down there have this idea that they'll land a hugh cow.......any reports of a cow
linsider being landed at the west wall at that time>??

ilovetwofish 04-08-2008 04:17 PM

Most of the guys including myself are using long rods to get distance. If there happens to be a cow in the area who do you think would have a better chance of landing one you with your sissy trout rod no one of us.
