Fished vineyard haven harbor from the shore several times last year. All I caught was (smooth) dogfish. They are everywhere. I caught 5 or 5 dogfish for every striper. I even diced one up, fried and fed it to our house guests. They devoured it. I told them we were having english style fish and chips. Never told them it was dogfish. It is a bland and unmemorable meal. Surprisingly the meat was white and firm.

Interesting point that I never knew...

"Many of the young males that escaped the fishermen's nets are fully mature now, accounting for what appears to be a dogfish boom. Males outnumber females 7 to 1.

Scientists say the large number of males also masks a generational gap."
