Surf jacket.
 

I have a simms that i wear when the conditions warrant it. Im wondering what kind of jackets are recomended when ya dont need the dry top, just something to keep you dry. Id like some sorta zip up jacket with a hood and wrist gaskets. i cant stand having to do the 5 minute routine when i have to take a leak with the simms on. :realmad: I have a 15 dollar wallyworld sterns rain jacket that is too flimsy, and a nice offshore sailing raincoat that is too bulky. Any advice would be appreciated.

I got a Grundens pullover for Christmas that is sweet! I believe it's the Sund 763 model, fleece lined with wrist gaskets. I'd try one on before you buy, they're sized small, I usually wear a XL, but in this I needed a 3X.

I've been using a NRS Endurance top for several years now.

The newer version has eliminated the zippered chest pouch which was the main reason(other than staying dry) I bought it.

Rob the jacket I wear surf casting and on the boat is made by C-Tek. It has a hood and wrist fasteners. Best part 25- at the Army Navy. 3 seasons so far.

Grundens pullover.

Rob, I bought a Viking Brand Jacket at Cape Fishermans Supply in Chatham. It has a roll-up hood pit-zips and plenty of pockets. The last time I wore it fishing we were in the rain in a bluefish blitz, did plenty of casting and it was still very comfortable.

Grundens 762 Petrus pullover. Ultra light with neoprene cuffs and zip to the neck. If it ONLY came in a color other than yellow :(

Snap front grundens, take my wading belt off, unsnap my waders and coat and I'm good to go

I recently picked up a World Wide Sportsman jacket at Bass Pro Shops. Might not be that great in "heavy" weather but I'm hoping it will be serviceable under normal conditions. It's lite weight, snap on hood, zip up front along with snaps, elastic wrists with velcro straps and very deep pockets. Page 723 in the master catalog-$40. I think I paid slightly more at the store.

I been wearing Grundens pullover for last few years but are certainly going to get one of the new Aquaskinz tops when they become available.......

Im going to look at the grundens a bit closer. Thanks for the feedback guys. Does it happen to others... You get all your gear on, trek down to the water, hear the surf and have to un-do all the crap you just put on to take a squirt. I dont have a problem, but im half considering taking those pills that are advertized all day on tv. The ones with the guys kayaking, toasting with bottles of water becasue they dont have to pee.

Without fail, especially if there is a bunch of fish around, or just after daylight when all the women are out walking at Narrow River.

-Crawler: Another way of handling the problem-- avoid briefs type underwear because they pinch. Optionally, leave the zippers down (unless you have large boot leaks) so that there's less fumbling when the time comes. Now, run a urinal down there (they make some very small, single use ones) and then let go. This saves declothing, which is a real hassle in cold or especially rainy weather, or when your buddy refuses to slow the boat down.

No, I don't carry one on the beach; but the method saves hassle if you are on a boat or close to your car or beach buggy.
