Auto wax?
Cleaning up the boat for the season and it occurred to me when the marine wax bottle was empty that I must have a half dozen bottles of auto wax that will probably never see a car. Anyone had any experience using it on the boat?

Use it.
I work in the auto body industry. Lots of the products we use are the same that are labeled "Marine" and then marked up 50-100% !!! |
true..
mothers california gold cleaner wax is my favorite. |
TreWax marine carnauba. I use it on the boat, the cars, and my teeth. Good Stuff!

Rejex
Just did an inspection of the hull, looked up under the shrink wrap, deck too. Almost a year after applying the Rejex, I can't believe how good it is still holding up. :kewl:

You wouldn't want to use any sort of wax that is considered a "beauty" wax for a car on a boat, that's for sure. If it won't go a couple months on a car it sure isn't going to go far on a boat.
Other then that, results are going to vary, just like on a car. Some products that claim to last just don't. Honestly most of them pack it in and run for the hills after just a few months at the most especially in a salty environment. My universal favorite is Collinite, I still haven't seen anything go all winter on a car and almost all season on a boat like that stuff. Durability just seems to be miles ahead, whether it is compared to a synthetic product or a carnauba. Cheap too. |
Collonite seems to work the best for me as well. It really does last a long time. In fact I just waxed the Blackfin yesterday.

clean well with bleach and soap and go get it bloody again no time for wax!
