Yamaha HPDI - Recall

Was hoping to get the boat last week, but Yamaha came out with a re-call in December for a new Oil Pump.

Would you believe that Yamaha doesn't have enough new oil pumps! The Yamaha dealer is going nuts to try to get one.

Anybody else get caught in this re-call?
:fury:

yeah- I got mine replaced last month when I sorta stumbled onto it.....I talked to the mechanic about excessive oil use on my 300HPDI- he looked it up, and BINGO- DISCOVERED A RECALL...... FIRST EITHER ONE OF US HAD HEARD ABOUT IT.

Well an update on this. I called Yamaha last week, they have no idea when the parts will be coming from Japan.

According to the helpful Yamaha rep, the re-call is not "safety related", [yeah right] {obviously he doesn't boat in Wood Hole}, so they told me to use the boat.

So the boat yard commissioned her and I splashed her today. What a great feeling, but this season there were be this nagging doubt on the engine's reliability.

I guess when the part comes in I will have to decide to pay to have the boat hauled or just do it in the fall.
