val-oil
can val oil be used as a sealer by its self,... or can it have to be mixed with BLO like a 50/50 mix
also how long to dry 2-3 days? |
i like to thin 60/40 with pure turps and dry for 2 days or so.
|
I mix it with mineral spirits (less smell and dries faster), but my finishes don't compare to what Don puts out.
|
anyone here of doin BLO\val-oil
50\50 mix? i heard turp/min can evaporte? |
if it ain't broke why fix it?
|
not sure of the turpentine, but mineral spirits are suppossed to evaporate. The spirits are not the sealer, the val oil is the sealer. The spirits help to thin the oil to allow it to better penetrate the wood.
Heat your blanks first before sealing and get an even better penetration. |
This is my second season building an I use val oil- 50\50-mineral spirits,on my plugs:hihi:
Gldnbear93 the swap plug has a SWEET PAINT JOB, every time I turn it, it changes color, think Im going to HANG it, :kewl:an fish some something else. GOOD LUCK GOOD PLUGGIN;) |
Greta info.
Now if I could just find that stuff (VO), I would be good to go. |
FISH IT!
I can always make more. All the paint is createx except for a light coat at the edges of the black stripe on the back. That is highlight violet by jaquard (thinned with regular water). That violet is almost like the old createx chameleon lilac. sorry to hijack.... |
