Anyone want to take a stab at this??

What was that boat, 45 long feet - maybe? Would we have turned to and rolled while BM was hauling up the cod of a lifetime? Any takers? http://128.241.205.103/vbulletin/ima...lies/puke2.gif http://128.241.205.103/vbulletin/ima...lies/puke2.gif http://128.241.205.103/vbulletin/ima...lies/puke2.gif http://128.241.205.103/vbulletin/ima...lies/puke2.gif http://128.241.205.103/vbulletin/ima...lies/puke2.gif http://128.241.205.103/vbulletin/ima...lies/puke2.gif http://128.241.205.103/vbulletin/ima...lies/puke2.gif http://128.241.205.103/vbulletin/ima...lies/puke2.gif |
i fished commercially offshore for 12 years, was engineer on a 123 foot hydraulic nightmare for 7 of those years and have had enough near death experiences to probably write a book. when i took the captain site on a smaller boat (87 footer) there was one thing that i learned and that is to "make it work". i didn't give up fishing to get stranded offshore in some tiny little boat and become the next days headline. i would have made it home, may have had to limp, but i would have had my feet on the beach. i am glad that things worked out well for those guys when they had their problems the next day

BTW I was haveing trouble with my keyboard yesterday I really don't spell that bad. It would have been a hard fix out on the seas, the hoses were clogged with stuff that looked like coal! They used acid and a metal pail handle to clear it. Hey I would have done the same thing!

In heavy seas you should get a call out to let people know you are in trouble. My guess is (not having been there) that a tow would be in order. My guess is that with the number of people involved on a fishing party boat , the Coast Guard would be involved fast. But.....everybody should still be OK.
Sometimes I wonder if the Captains are showing good judgement going out when its really bad. They know its bad out there , they don't have to drag you halfway out to show you. |
That's what OJ said! LOL!
Hey, OJ gonna get married again? to which he replied, 'I might take a stab at it'. er... never mind - carry on... |

hehehe....
I though his famous line was "It could happen"... |
Hey 10x10!
I've really enjoyed that striper book! Thanks again, it came in handy getting ready for this past weekend at IRI. Dave :-) |
Most of you are either too young, or weren't in RI at the time, but I'm sure Saltheart remembers a head boat named the "Comet" out of Point Jude that sank with the loss of all fares and crew. Mid to late 70s if I remember right.
Losing power in 20' seas is about as hairy as it gets. |
