Three Way Bucktail Jig Rig
 

Reading Tim Coleman's "To Catch a Bass", there's a section on three way Bucktail Jig Rigging that employs a sinker and a lightweight 3/4 oz. bucktail. You change the sinker to match the current. Seems like you'ld loose less jigs and where small is deemed better in these type of applications, I find it an interesting concept. Anyone try this? Opinions?

It's a very standard method used when fishing the race, where weights of 16 to 24 oz are needed to hold bottom as you drift. Weight is about a foot below a 3-way swivel, The Bucktail is 4-6 feet back from the three way swivel, usually tipped with pork or plastic. I also use it in the North Rip off Block island, but with 8-12 ounces. Great producer for stripers (get below the blues as quick as you can).
