Stern dragger
With the cost of fuel and lack of fish.... insurance job?

RIROCKHOUND 05-22-2008 08:33 AM

Supposedly was full of squid. if that was true, wouldn't you wait till after you offloaded to do an insurance sinking?

likwid 05-22-2008 08:45 AM

Depends on how bad in the hole he is and what the price of squid is.
Second sinking? This must be setting off all kinds of alarms at the ins company.

I am sure that there will be drug tests... if any one of the crew fails the tests, the insurance co will say 'sorry for your loss' and be on their way.. drug tests pick up months of drug usage history...

I was there a few days ago and there was a slick of diesel all the way to aunt carrie's beach.. :(

Easier said than done. If she's hard aground you'll need a salvage tug with beach gear(anchors and associated rigging)and hydraulic pullers. You only get about 1 Ton of pull for every 1000 Shaft HP using tugboats. Even Clammer steers wide on that corner so never mind getting the lines across.

Insurance must be paying good these days...

Just guessing, but with a mate at the helm and a tow so close to shore, the radar alarm would probably have been off. Dragging in the bay puts you in an area with so many pieces of structure and so many land masses, the alarm would be going off all the time.

They must have been tired. Unbelievable.
Or so they say, did anyone see then sleeping?
