Butter Fish
 
I'm not talkin about recipes here. For a while I've been noticing alot of butter fish around. What are some of the best technics, bait ect... to catch these fishes?? I hear their good eating and bass n blues love'm to.

Butters will hit a fish fin rig like the Sabiki or Owner jigging trees that are so popular these days.

..back in the day, we used to catch them while trying for mackerel in Newport. We'd get them occasionally on the jig...but more times than not, we'd get them on scallop-baited hooks. Scallops are KILLER for mackerel...<<not only humans>> :D

As far as eating butterfish...:rolleyes: I like eating stripers after they've eaten my butterfish!!
