sunglasses lens color
Looking for opinions of lens color for sunglasses - I have gray lens now and the gray are fine for all around stuff - driving, biking, ball games and seem just okay for fishing. Thoughts? :walk:

Maui Jim's amber is my favorite :smokin:

amber has been FANTASTIC for visiblity in the water.
|
Make sure they are polarized and they block UV rays.

Costa Del Mar - Amber glass - are the best sunglasses I have ever owned. Lifetime Warranty as well
|
amber for shallow water and rivers and gray for deep water . I use amber only and they work great . make sure they are polarized .
|
Shallow water = amber, deeper water = blue/green

Polarized and Amber for sure!

making sure they are polarized is the biggest factor for on the water... color depends on the light conditions....

Thanks all! :thanks:

Glass Amber Maui Jims, had them for 8 years. Fixed the frames for free 2 times, and will put new lens in for $50. Awesome for everything.

I had a pair of Smith (Action Optics) in amber that were really nice, the Caymen style -- till they disappeared anyway. I just got a pair of Bolle Recoils. I got them for $65 off ebay and really like them so far. Real nice for the money IMO. Whatever they are, they've got to be polarized...obviously.

I grabbed a pair of Blue polarized from an indian guy with bad BO in a mall in mass. They were listed as knockoff's but were polarized.I can see well in the water with them.Cheaper the better as they get ruined, squished and/or lost quick in my line of work.

All of the sunglasses advice is all true and good. However, nobody mentioned tie-on glasses in lieu of the the usual ear rests. The most versatile and comfortable glasses I've ever had. Heavy cloth and rain hoods don't knock them around when you turn your head. Your choice to tie them under or over hoods or wool ski caps. They stay on even if you do a face plant snowboarding. The Fla. charter boat capts. love them. They make you look like a dork though.

Brand: Ocean waves Inc., a Fla. optical company.

You might want to look at the Costa Del Mar Tropic Stars. They come with three different lens colors that can be changed out.The lens colors are amber, gray and vermillion. They really holdup welll and you don't have to worry about the lens popping out.Costa's Harpoons are excellent also.

I use amber in a pair of native sunglasses. They are the only brand that i can find that fits my big head. They came with 2 other sets of lenses but they are too light colored. One is almost a rose and the other is a light grey, but in anyhting more than dim sun they are useless.

Maui Jims, Amber nothin better
|
Kaenon come in 2 diferent shades of amber, grey, or yellow. Are polarized and have nice size frames for large heads.
