Shimano Trevala Rods
All:
I am looking to buy a Shimano Trevala rod and match it with a avet reel to go for BFT's this summer...I just noticed that they came out with a 6'6H in additon to the 5'8 XXH. What asdvantages/ disadvantages will I see in the 6'6"? The specs for both follow: Shimano Trevala TVC-58XXH (5'8") - Casting Extra Extra Heavy Power, Medium Fast Action Line rating: 80-200lb., Jig Weight: 120-270 grams Foregrip length: 8", Reargrip Length: 12.5" Tip plus 8 Fuji Alconite Guides Shimano Trevala TVC-66H (6'6") - Casting Heavy Power, Medium Fast Action Line rating: 80-200lb., Jig Weight: 270-325 grams Foregrip length: 8", Reargrip Length: 12.5" Tip plus 8 Fuji Alconite Guides |
I have the 5'8" teamed with a avet LX 6.1 and feel it is a great setup.
Last season I beat up a 80-90 tuna in less then 15 minute.:musc: I hope to repeat this a few more times this season.:) |
I use mine with a Torium 30. Great combo, was jigging with it today. Haven't caught a fish on it yet but hope to soon because I want to see if these things fight a fish like I hear.

I have the 5'8" with a Avet LX6:1 as well.......What a great set up....fairly light....can jig cod/haddock/bass all day, as well as handle a 100 pound tuna,.,

I just bought the 5'8 today, hopefully will be testing it on a tuna in the am. :lurk:

I picked up the 5'8"today as well.Unfortunately, the only thing I'll be testing tomorrow am is my effing hammer.I've got an accurate 665 on it,and it feels pretty damn sweet.:spin:

Thanks everyone....I ordered a trevala 5'8" xxh and matched it with an avet lx 6.1. Now its time to get it out there and put it to the test.
