Tuna Question

What rod set up do you need to go after 73" tuna. Not sure what they are tipping the scales at that size.

Are you talking about casting a plug?Trolling?Jigging? You have to figure that fish at about 300 pounds.I wouldn't be as worried about the rod,as the reels max drag, line capacity, and your crew's ability to chase it down with the boat.Quickly.

That fish will go 200-260 roughly. 80 pound line class outfit is sufficient. You probably could go down to a 50 weight rod class short rod. If targeting "giants" 130 unlimited is what I and most commercials use. Good luck and make sure if you are going to try and sell the fish you have a general permit which prohibits the keeping of sbfts.
