Getting object out of the gas tank
I add StarTron to the gas when fueling up the boat. I had the gas cap open and unscrewed the cap to the StarTron and the little paper/plastic/tinfoil cover (I don't know what it's made of - it's supposed to prevent evaporation I think) inside the cap fell out and went right into the gas tank.
I'm thinking that this could cause fuel problems or a clog. Any advice? How can i get this thing out? Is it nothing to be concerned about? I have a 17' SeaHunt CC, 30 gallon tank with a 125 Merc. Thanks, Rich |
I doubt it will get past a 10 micron filter !

Agreed, but could it cause a clog and prevent fuel from getting through?

go get another bottle of startron and soak the little stopper thingy in a can of gasoline for a few days. see what happens?
It's probly cardboard with aluminum glued on it? probly melt the cardboard into oblivion and just have a little piece of aluminum in the tank forever. |
Rich,
Totally unrelated, but I used to have a 17' Sea Hunt CC with a 70 HP and it was fast enough for me. With a 125HP on the back that thing must fly!!! |
The same thing happened to me last year, it's been in the tank about a year now with no ill affect.

It's rated for up to 135HP - now that would be frightening. |
Thanks for all the responses, I took it out yesterday (the boat) with no problems. Hopefully, it's not an issue.

Take the fuel out the tank, double side foam tape on a somewhat straightened coathanger.

I have a 17 Sea Hunt (for sale) with a Yami 90 4 stroke and I do 35 knots at 4500 rpms. I CANNOT imagine my boat with a 125. Your boat must scream!!!!
