mackerel and cast netting

is it possible? see other post about mackerel.
We were on thousands yesterday but every time I threw the cast they would move before it was over them.

I thought I would try but it seemed hopeless. It was only a 10ft net though.

they are so fast. castnet would be tough. i catch them in my pogie net all the time as bycatch. crazy amount of bait out there. i put out some chum yesterday and they just hung around the boat for hours

I've been having good luck jigging them up and then trolling with them, and while trolling running a sabiki rig a short distance behind the boat and replenishing the supply without having to stop targeting stripers.
